The Pediatric Respiratory Care Initiative™ (PRCI® ) is a multicomponent educational program on pediatric respiratory disorders designed for pediatricians, infectious disease specialists, allergists, immunologists, primary care physicians, and other health care professionals involved in the care and management of pediatric respiratory patients. The overall objectives of this initiative include:
Review the mechanism of action of platelet activation and aggregation and increase the understanding of the role of platelet activation and aggregation in thrombotic complications following percutaneous coronary intervention and acute coronary syndrome
Discuss contemporary approaches to identifying patients at risk for thrombotic events
Determine the best-practice procedures in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of thrombotic complications through effective platelet inhibition
Examine the therapeutic attributes necessary to reach the goal of effective platelet inhibition to prevent clinical events in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Present the limitations of current oral antiplatelet therapies, as well as the opportunities afforded by novel therapies, to prevent early and late thrombotic complications in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Explore issues related to platelet resistance, including its definition and clinical implications
Examine the demographics, health characteristics, and total health care utilization in the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients and review critical pathways to ensure optimal care in the acute-care and outpatient settings
